So, what is the Men’s Mindfulness & Philosophy Book Club?
It’s pretty much what it sounds like: a chance to read, talk, and create community.

What to expect:
The book club is facilitated by Matt Maxwell, meditation coach and author (learn more about Matt here!). Matt will start things off each month by choosing a text for the group to read together. Participants will meet for an hour virtually, twice a month. Meetings will start with a brief mindfulness meditation practice, followed by facilitated group discussion about the book. You’ll have a chance to explore what stands out to you, how the concepts apply to your life, and whether the ideas and practices from the text are meaningful to you personally.

This book club is offered virtually, and may be a particularly good fit for men who are grieving for any reason – whether it is loss of a family member, loss of physical functioning due to illness, estrangement from family, or anticipatory loss in the midst of caregiving.

The book club admits new members regularly. New participants are asked to commit to attending for 3 months (a total of 6 meetings) to encourage social cohesion within the group. As the group may be in the middle of a text, our team will work with you to determine your preferences for when and how you join!

Other FAQs:
Is this therapy?
No. While this group is offered by a trained facilitator, it is not provided by a licensed mental health provider. If you are currently in therapy, it is recommended that you continue to see your therapist while participating in the Men’s Mindfulness and Philosophy Book Club.

How do I join meetings?

The Men’s Mindfulness & Philosophy Book Club is held virtually via Zoom's HIPAA-compliant, healthcare version. Participants will receive an evergreen Zoom link to connect to sessions. At the time of sessions, you'll simply click the link to join.

Will it be the same people joining every time?
We ask new members to commit to at least 3 months to maintain group continuity and foster

The cost of attendance depends on the level of commitment you choose.
Six Month Commitment: 12 sessions for $585
Three Month Commitment: 6 sessions for $315
