James's Story
"I'd wanted to quit smoking for years, but every time I tried I ended up going right back to it. In therapy, I began to understand what made me reach for a cigarette. I noticed I was more likely to smoke when I'd had a couple of drinks with friends, or was stressed at work. Then, my therapist helped me find new ways to cope. She also helped me see what mattered to me and go for it. For example, I knew I didn't want to raise a kid who saw me smoke.
Now, I feel really confident that I have put this behind me, for good."
