About the event
Please join us for a free virtual book reading and discussion with Brenda Denzler, Ph.D.
Dr. Denzler is the author of For My Own Good: Medical PTSD and Me, which tells the story of how she realized that she had mPTSD, how she became traumatized by life-saving medical treatment at the age of 5, and how that background made her a ‘difficult patient’ when she had to undergo treatment at age 56 for inflammatory breast cancer.
Dr. Denzler received her Ph.D. in Religious Studies from Duke University. She has written about medical PTSD for MedPage Today, the British Medical Journal, and the Physician Leadership Journal, as well as in numerous smaller venues. She has also been on podcasts for Surviving Breast Cancer and for the American Association of Physician Leaders. As a member of the Medical PTSD Working Group, she has co-created a teaching module on treatment-related mPTSD for healthcare professionals.
